After being in the works for over three years, the movie "Martin," starring Dhruva Sarja, is all set to be released nationwide this week. The film's director, AP Arjun, who faced challenges during the production of the movie, reflects on the journey and shares, "This film has been a learning experience. Despite facing setbacks like the impact of COVID-19, I choose to look ahead and focus on what we are presenting to the audience on a grand scale." He reveals insights into the making of "Martin" in the following excerpts:
- "Every scene in 'Martin' will keep viewers intrigued"
Our sincere efforts have been devoted to keeping the audience engaged in the film. The screenplay unfolds in reverse, ensuring that each scene leaves the audience guessing about what might happen next. Additionally, "Martin" holds significance for me as it provides an opportunity to establish myself as a director on a larger stage.
- "From a bilingual project to a pan-India film"
The journey of "Martin" took off on August 15, 2021, initially conceived as a Kannada-Telugu project with a timeline of one to one-and-a-half years. However, upon witnessing the quality of the footage shot within 10 to 15 days, we envisioned it as a pan-India film. Adapting to a broader audience required us to enhance the storytelling and production values to match the standards of Bollywood or Telugu cinema.
- "This film will redefine Dhruva's image in the eyes of the audience"
Dhruva, predominantly known for his roles in love stories, will showcase a different side in "Martin." While dubbed the 'Action Prince,' this movie is poised to reshape the audience's perception of his acting capabilities.Dear fans, get ready to see him shine as an action hero like never before in this film. With four chase sequences choreographed by Ravi Varma and five fights choreographed by Ram Lakshman, international artists Nathan Jonas and Aarash Shah also contribute to the thrilling action. This patriotism-themed film revolves around a gangster and deliberately distances from the lengthy dialogues commonly associated with Dhruva. Instead, the focus is on his walk, eyes, expressions, and body language to convey his character effectively.
In terms of working with talents, director AP Arjun expresses interest in collaborating with established stars alongside newcomers. Working with fresh faces provides a unique creative freedom for storytelling, as seen in his past collaboration with Dhruva in "Addhuri." The dedication to rehearsal back then resulted in a successful project, and the challenge of reshaping Dhruva's on-screen persona for "Martin" is met with admiration and respect.
Amidst the ever-increasing distractions of social media and global content consumption via OTT platforms, capturing and maintaining audience attention has become a significant challenge in the film industry today. The shift from traditional big-screen viewing to digital mediums has transformed audience expectations, prompting creators to adapt and innovate to engage viewers effectively. After undergoing a screening process lasting over 100 days, the film finally premiered on television. This highlights the significance of the cinema experience. Nowadays, only movies driven by substantial content can attract audiences to theaters. While movies starring popular actors may draw viewers to some extent, it is the success of smaller films in theaters that indicates a positive shift in the film industry.
